What is the basic process of preparing an effective literature review?

         The review of various literary sources is the most important section of a dissertation as it makes a specific research relevant and reliable and that is why it is the longest chapter and carries the highest weight in terms of the overall grade. Therefore, it has to be written in the most effective manner and a basic process needs to be followed to achieve this effectiveness. The first step should be to search for all the recent, reliable and relevant sources of literature with respect to your specific topic and go through the abstracts or overviews to include or exclude various sources. Once you have selected and sorted a wide array of documents, articles, reports and books start writing with a critical mind while highlighting any gaps in those sources. The key to achieving effectiveness in the literature review section is to be as critical as possible and keeping a smooth and continuous flow of writing.
